“Rankin Live”

Photography People (Self)Portrait

Documentary Fashion Beauty … looking back

Rankin, fashion and documentary photographer, takes a retrospective voyage through his art work and runs a great exposition at London’s Brick Lane from July 31 till September 18.

Based in an excellent venue, The Truman Brewery, the 600 iconic images, feature factual, creative, provocative, erotic, sometimes absurd or obsessive observations of the human face and body.

I admire Rankin for his unique, ambitious and subversive study of bodily expressions and human nature. He gives priority to an individual, letting him or her be who they really are in front of his camera. Rankin unveils, not his, but their inner lives, feelings and dreams. Acting and posing  for him seems to be untaught, instinctive and pure.

Along “Rankin Retrospective” there is  “Shoot Me Rankin” that gives 1000 selected people in the UK an opportunity to participate and contribute to his major exhibition. All profit from this interactive project will go to Oxfam.

Many thanks to Rankin for his generous heart and for making ordinary people believe in their own beauty!
